Dr. Henry’s approach to chiropractic manipulation is based primarily on joint mechanics.
If during your exam we discover that there are certain joints that are lacking a range of motion or are “stiff” we may need to get more range of motion in them.
One very effective way of decreasing the stiffness and improving motion in the joint is by manipulating it.
Chiropractic manipulation is a safe and effective way to decrease pain and muscle tightness as well as improve range of motion and joint mechanics.
We do realize that some patients new to chiropractic may be a little intimidated to chiropractic manipulation, it’s for this reason that Dr. Henry uses different techniques to meet patients wherever they’re comfortable.
Arthrostim Instrument Adjusting
This is a lower force style of adjusting where a tool or instrument is used to apply fast and gentle force to the joints of the spine and extremities.
Drop Table Adjusting
Dr. Henry uses a special table where the cushions raise and then “drop” when force is applied to the joint. The drop helps absorb some of the mechanical force and provides a little comfort as well.
This is the style of adjusting where Dr. Henry uses his hands to apply a force to the joint and where a “pop” usually occurs.
Some patients very used to chiropractic manipulation generally have an idea if they respond well to a lighter instrument or more classic diversified style of adjusting. If you’re a little newer to chiropractic Dr. Henry will be more than happy to guide you through the process to a level of your comfort.
